The University of Melbourne is scheduled for its second Audit by the Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA) in May 2010. AUQA is an independent, not-for-profit national agency that promotes, audits, and reports on quality assurance in Australian higher education; it is presently undertaking its second cycle of periodic audits of Australian self-accrediting institutions.
Preparation for the University's second audit is being led by Professor Susan Elliott, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Teaching, Learning and Equity). The University's Performance Portfolio, which describes for the audit panel the process by which the University carries out its role, is due in February 2010.
The University's first audit by AUQA was in 2005. The University of Melbourne's Portfolio 2005 took the form of a self-audit for 2004 and outlined the quality assurance processes for each of the University's goals, reviewing progress against strategic objectives and outlining planned further improvement. The University's 2005 Audit Report is a publicly available document.
This website will provide the main source of information for University staff on the process of preparing for the 2010 Audit.
